Why healthcare access became personal

Medlord started with a personal experience.

While living in New Zealand, Sayooj experienced first-hand how difficult it could be to reach the right specialist when he needed one. After an initial GP consultation and a second visit without improvement, he faced a long wait before getting specialist care.

That experience led him to speak with other Indians living abroad. He kept hearing similar concerns — long waits, uncertainty around specialist access, and a desire to stay connected with trusted healthcare professionals in India.

When he returned to India, he shared the idea with Akhil. The conversation quickly turned into a shared mission — to build a better way for people living abroad to connect with trusted healthcare in India.

That conversation became the beginning of Medlord.

Akhil joined Medlord from a technology and product-building background, bringing a strong belief that technology should solve real human problems — not simply add another layer of complexity.

When Sayooj shared the idea, Akhil immediately saw the opportunity to build something meaningful around it.

For Akhil, Medlord brings together the things he has always enjoyed most: technology, startups, product building and creating solutions that can make everyday life better.

He joined the journey with a simple belief: when the right people come together around a meaningful problem, technology can turn that idea into something useful for real people.

One of us experienced the frustration of trying to reach the right healthcare while living abroad. The other saw an opportunity to use technology to make that journey better.
